What are you currently reading?  Currently I am reading Izzy's Pop Star Plan by Alex Marestaing.  I know the intended audience is middle grade but I'm enjoying it too!  A little more than half-way through, look for my review soon.  Here's a synopsis from the back cover:

"Ever since she was six, she's dreamed of becoming the world's next singing sensation.  Now sixteen, Izzy's singing career is on the rise, and she's been selected to compete on the hit TV show International Pop Star Challenge.  As Izzy performs in far off locations such as Tokyo and Paris, it seems as if her plans are coming off without a hitch.  But God has plans of His own, and Izzy will soon discover that living for Him is "way cooler" than megastar fame.

I am also reading, from NetGalley, the following ebooks:  Cooking From the Garden by Ruth Lively.  This is a wonderful cookbook with new, exciting recipes for using what you grow.   M.C. Higgins the Great by Virgina Hamilton.  This has been a slower read that I just can't seem to get into.  I have 13 days left to review it so I best hurry up with it.

What did you recently finish reading?

I just finished what may be my favourite book this year!!  Secret Daughter by Shilpi Somaya Gowda is a moving tribute to mothers, a touching story of lives across the world that intersect through the adoption of a baby girl, and an introduction to the culture of India. So well written that the reader comes to know the characters within and feels a loss when the book is done.  I love, love, love this book!!  If you are looking for that special Mother's Day gift, this definitely is worth considering.  See my review here.

I also read a newly released children's book,  Oscar's Adventures in the Woods by Pam Stone.  It's a cute story about the adventures of a pet turtle who goes on an adventure while his aquarium is being cleaned.  Children will love the beautiful images, vivid colour and glossy cover and will be sure to read this one again and again.  Read my review here.

Another children's book that I just finished is Birds Can Fly and So Can I by Noa Nimrodi.  It's a cute little story about a giraffe who dreams he can fly.  This story encourages children to pursue their dreams.  Review coming soon.

Whatcha Reading Wednesdays

1. Share what you are currently reading or planning to start soon.

Nothing has changed, really, since the It's Monday, What are you reading? meme.  Still bookmarked and steadily making progress, I am reading At Home in Mitford.  Bookclub meets on the 17th so I simply must give this book some priority.  It is a reread.  A pleasant and warm story of a small town rector and the people who make the village their home.  Father Tim is a gardener too, which makes him all that more likeable to me.  Set in the most picturesque village in a valley, with humour, love, friendship and mystery, At Home in Mitford makes for a welcome diversion from the stresses of the day.

1.  What are you currently reading?  Well, you could look above but if you'd rather not I'll just tell you again.  I'm reading At Home in Mitford with savour and gratitude for the warmth of small towns and the lives therein that can become intertwined in the most well-meaning of ways.

2.  What did you recently finish reading?  I read Utopia Texas by Betty Byrd.  In fact, Ms. Byrd and I are hosting a giveaway of her novel.  The contest closes March 14 at midnight MST.

3.  What do you think you'll read next?  I had a feeling this was going to be a week of fewer accomplishments reading-wise.  After finishing At Home in Mitford, I would love to finish Nana: the Four Crystals and fit in another on my TBR list.  We'll see what time allows.

What are you currently reading?  I am finishing Remember Me? by Sophie Kinsella and am slowly progressing through Nana:  The Four Crystals (time has been occupied of late but it is looking up starting tomorrow for more hours of reading pleasure!).

My answers:

1.  What are you currently reading?
At my bedside sits The Help by Kathryn Stockett and Remember Me by Sophie Kinsella. These have been ongoing for some time now.  As they are read at bedtime, some nights tiredness pervades and I accomplish little more than a chapter.  They are both good entertaining novels that I am eager to complete.  When I am finished my other read, Deed So by Katharine Russell, I can dedicate more time to finishing both of these.

2.  What did you recently finish reading?
 I recently finished reading the debut novel Sudden Moves (a Young Adult Mystery) by Kelli Sue Landon.  The review will be posted tomorrow followed by an interview with the author on Friday.  I am excited about this one!  Kelli Sue Landon shows true promise as an up and coming author.

3.  What do you think you'll read next?
I have a pile of eight books to be read that were provided by authors for review, so I must continue with that.  True Believer is the next Nicholas Sparks novel I will read as I work on the Nicholas Sparks challenge and I have another Agatha Christie novel, The Body in the Library, that I am eager to renew my acquaintance with.
